May 2007 - CRE MARK helps builder
Picture shows builder Simon Somerville with some of his power tools that were not stolen.

South Lincolnshire builder Simon Somerville is thankful he used CRE MARK on all his power tools. Following a burglary at a rural property he was renovating,on the outskirts of a village near Stamford, he returned to the premises to find lead flashing, copper piping, a box of drill bits and a box of screws stolen. But the burglars had left his power tools untouched. Simon said 'We locked everything away in the garage and were gutted when we came in and saw what had happened, but absolutely amazed they'd left our power tools, he continued, "I can only put it down to fact that we had taken police advice and overtly marked them up. It would have cost us well over a thousand pounds to have replaced our kit, not to mention the hassle of getting new tools and sorting it out with insurance companies."

CRE Director Bob French adds "This is a genuine example of how thieves react when they see items are marked overtly. We hope people will follow Simons example and mark up their possessions to deter thieves and stop them making a profit out of the ordinary person in the street."
